WHY THIS PROJECT

“And the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.” — Luke 6:19

Peter is a retired UCC minster after 40 years of service and knows that prayer is the essence of communicating to God.  He also knows that people are searching for guidance in their faith during these difficult times.

During Covid19 both Peter and Bonnie were isolated looking for something they could do together. There were several boxes of hand written pastoral prayers stored in the basement. Peter would read and edit the prayers while Bonnie typed them. They came up with over 70 prayers they though might inspire people to experience God’s presence.

It was 6 years ago that Peter was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. About that time they discovered the AFSC (Alzheimer’s Family Support Center) in Brewster, MA. The co-founders Molly Purdue and Mel Braverman offer free support programs to families and caregivers which has been a life saver in building relationships with others going through the same experiences. They felt that they wanted to give back to the AFSC in some humble way. Offering the proceeds from the prayer book is a small way to let others know about the center and financially support it through the fund raiser. We encourage and hope that you might consider donating to the center if possible.
